2. Deadly Weapon (1989)

   Produced by Charles Band, this film was made by Empire Pictures in 1989. It was originally intended as "Laserblast II," a sequel to the 1978 cult film featured on MST3K. Due to budget reasons, the script was rewritten.

5. The Brave

   Johnny Depp, Marlon Brando. A down-on-his-luck American Indian recently released from jail is offered the chance to "star" as the victim of a snuff film, the resulting pay of which could greatly help his poverty stricken family.

   One of Brando's most insane performances, and I think the studios would love to have this one back.

8. Nightmare Sisters (1988)

   Direct from the Fangarian Cauldron, I pull forth the classic brew called, 'Nightmare Sisters.' Now as the RiffTrax Crew probably knows from riffing such classics as 'The Dark Power,' 'Rock and Roll Nightmare,' and 'Fever Lake,' the late-80s/early-90s brought forth some really horrible films. Nightmare Sisters happens to be one which is hilarious on the front that it was spoofing the whole 'exorcist/possession' craze which was hitting the horror scene.

   1) The typical, inexplicable plot: The story first begins with a woman visiting a local medium (Omar), to find out what happened to her husband. Omar uses a crystal ball (no really, a crystal ball) to contact the spirit world, there while channeling the dead husband, Omar accidentally unleashes a demon within that pulls his head off. Years later, in a sorority house (which was somehow where Omar's place once stood, yeah, I know this was the late-80s) three hefty woman have dates with the local frat boys. As normal, the frat boys have the typical, snotty bullies, and they must sneak out to go on their date. After some mishaps, one of the girls happens to find the ominous crystal ball, and they all decide to have a seance (yeah, because THAT'S ALWAYS a good idea). As you'd expect, Omar's head appears and tricks the girls into touching the crystal ball. Suddenly after some odd special effects, the woman are instantly transformed into hot babes, but something's not quite right as they now want to do their dates in the most possible way. Meanwhile the jerks realize the frat boys have escaped, and they secretly decide on snatching the frats, taking their dates in the process. Unfortunately, these girls are now demons who drains men's souls by... well, you'll have to see the film to believe it... and the jerks get theirs while the frat boys discover what has happened and must find a way to free their girlfriends' from this possession.

   2) Bad costuming/acting: Of course, bad acting was always course for the par in these films, as it seems the actors are just saying their lines in a most cliched way. However, the worst costuming comes from the women themselves, and I don't mean after they become hot babes, but before, as you can sort of tell they're wearing bodysuits throughout the first part. It's most apparent when an incident causes one of the girls to fall on the young men. Even funnier is when these demon-girls attack, they just show them with horrible faces, darting their tongues in an out for the most part. Funniest is how the jerk guys react when they're attacked. Rather hilarious as well as the effect of what happens to them.

   3) Inexplicable ending of this film. Normally when I suggest a Riff, I rarely give away endings, but this is one which will make Mike, Bill and Kevin scratch their heads in question. Mainly because when the boys do manage to exorcise the demons from the girls, they don't die, nor revert back to normal, but remain in their new, sexy forms. Talk about a body shaming lesson to those overweight women out there.

   Overall, Nightmare Sisters was a hilarious film for the fact that the story is goofy enough to make you wonder how this got produced in the first place, and how the guys had to keep a straight face when the demon girls make that reaction (with odd sound sting) before attacking them. This would make an excellent VOD to have for a filler while we wait for the recent 2015 Live Shows to go on VOD. 9. Space Station 76

   Though this was suggested earlier, I'd thought I'd better expand this one so those can comprehend it why it should be included on the RiffTrax List.

   Basically Space Station 76 was supposed to spoof the space craze which plagued films of the late-70s, thanks to Lucas' Star Wars. The problem came that some where so bad they even made the Star Wars' Holiday Special acceptable (Anyone recall 'The Ice Pirates,' or 'Galaxina?'). So sticking with the RMR format, I give the crew three good, detailed reason on why this film should be considered, although it's more on the recent end of the timeline.

   1) Botched hybrid/bad spoof: Though the title implies this is technically a space-age film of the 70s, it actually devolves more into a 70s drama set in outer space, and not a good one at that. Considering the fact there are NO aliens whatsoever in this film. In fact, one subplot deals with the child, Sunshine, freaked out over the fact her pet gerbil keeps committing infanticide (which makes me wonder if her ditzy mom actually got her a mole rat instead). In fact, if it wasn't for the space scenes of asteroids and the station itself, you wouldn't ever think this was a film set in space... let alone the so-called futuristic tech of the 70s space theme, which leads me to the next reason.

   2) The Futuristic Tech (or lack of thereof): Apparently the producers of SS76 obviously had never really watched a futuristic 70s space program. Though the film does technically have robots, automatic doors, vidphones, and push-button stuff. The problem is, that even Space: 1999 had better 'tech' to pull off in their show, and they had a limited-budget. Basically, the station robots are actually those better robot toys the rich kids got for Christmas, while the rest of us had to settle for either remote R2-D2s, or Tobors. Sunshine uses a pocket computer that suspiciously is reminiscent of one of those Mark IV pocket games (look it up on Wikipedia), uses Betamax tapes for learning. On the bright side, there's a pharmaceutical vending machine that dispenses drugs, and a vector based video game, yet, one turn off shows one character using a View-Master to order dresses.. yes, you heard me right, a view-master. Also laughable is Matt Bomer's character's cyber-hand, which looks more like an early prototype of the power glove (the power glove, it's so bad..)

   3) Dubious casting and plot: The best way to describe this film is if you took a 70s sci-fi flick, then added the cast of That's 70s show grown up and married (the kids I mean), and surgically removed the aliens, and threw in some Soap Opera elements for good measure. One thing which bugged me was the fact, ever since his bomb with Kangaroo Jack, Jerry O'Connell has somehow been typecast as the sex-crazed Lothario. Except here, which is worst, they now have him married and with a kid, and cheating on his wife with his best friend's wife. You can even see this when Liv Tyler's character comes on board the ship, and O'Connell's character tells Matt Bomer's character that he would love to do her, complete with obscene noises and gestures.

   Ironically just as everyone's secrets are about to blow up at a Christmas Party, an asteroid hits a space shuttle which was going to take O'Connell as his wife off the station. And the ending is a big odd, whereas despite the great soundtrack, you wondered what in hell was this really all about. I mean, Fun in Balloonland made more sense than this.. and that's not really saying much.

   Overall, I believe this would be a great film for RiffTrax to riff as a VOD, or possibly select as the next Kickstarter Live project, since this film is hilariously bad for the fact the directors had good intentions and they just went horribly awry in doing it. And if not for the Anti-G sequences with Sunshine, you'd never know this was taking place on a space station. Well, that, and the randomly, oncoming asteroid.

10. Gas-s-s-s (1970)

    Otherwise known as 'Gas! -Or- It Became Necessary to Destroy the World in Order to Save It.' This was once another fun-filled apocalyptic film of the Seventies... but instead of nuclear war, overpopulation, or apes seizing control of the world, the source of it this time is a biological chemical agent (aka Gas), which was accidentally released in the world. Anyone over 25 ends up getting killed (imagine if the guy's at Logan's Run did this instead of those damn crystals in the hand, would've eliminated a lot of this 'runner' nonsense, hmm?), and as a result a bunch of young people wind up ruling the world.

    Well, more or less, and what ends up in a wild ride between two main characters. Basically they wind up on a journey, meeting bizarre people along the way. Cindy Williams (aka Shirley Feeney) and Ben Vereen also guest star. One hilarious moment is a town which is ruled by a football team (no, really).

    So why is this movie a gas for RiffTrax to riff may you inquire, as you may:

    (1) The infinite music score when the main characters go on their road trip, apparently this film has a song for practically everything.

    (2) The funniest moment come with Cindy Williams as a pregnant woman running a music store as well as her boyfriend Ben Vereen who plays, Carlos, who is a bit of a military enthusiast.

    (3) The plethora of characters these guys encounter along the way as they travel across the country to find out what they'll find in this new mixed up world. Me, hoping for those Zombies out in Texas where apparently Night of the Living Dead took place. Seriously this is one post-apocalyptic film which makes enough sense as Fun in Balloonland.

    For instance, one gunfight scene has everyone 'shooting' their weapons not with bullets, but with people shouting out classic authors, actors and writers at one another. Which end up with our hero yelling out 'John Wayne' to destroy some bandits.

    Overall, this is one American International (not sure how that works) flick RiffTrax should not overlook, because it really is a Gas-s-s-s.

    You have to see the movie Real Gangsters. It is THE worst film ever made. The star also wrote, directed, produced and provides the soundtrack. It is so bad it is hilarious. He even buys IMDB reviews.

14. SUPERFUZZ

    1) Its from 1980, which you know are just plain great to riff.

    2) It has Ernest Borgnine and another actor who has an accent.

    C) Because "Any movie with waka chi waka is ok by me"

    5) Because it was played on HBO all thru my childhood, so others may be familiar with it like I am, and want to see it on the big screen.

15. Slugs: The Movie

    Pop People is arguably the best episode of MST3K and you guys have already covered Supersonic Man, so why not finish a Juan Piquer Simón trilogy with his 1988 absurd horror film? The film itself is enjoyable to watch but so silly that it could use a good riffing.

    Besides, its based on a book, don't you guys want to class up your catalog with more literary pieces?

    This 1958 National Education Association Film addresses the problems of overcrowded schools during the 1950s baby boom. This film depicts the experiences of a frustrated teacher leading to her deciding to resign. The film encourages parents to visit schools and attend school board meetings.

    It's 30 minutes of hilarious awkward acting and forced melodrama.

    It's right up there with short films like "Beginning Responsibility: Lunchroom Manners (1959)" a.k.a. "Mr. Bungle" and Setting Up a Room (1967).
