  1. Joshua and the Promised Land (2004)

This hour-long low-budget CGI film based on the account of Joshua in the Old Testament tells how a creepy-looking lion kid named Joshua with no tail and jaws that never close gets taken back in time by a guardian angel and possesses some random lion man who happens to be named Joshua (what are the odds?).

I happen to be a Christian, but I still think this is a shoddy movie with a shoddy approach, a shoddy execution, shoddy computer animation, shoddy writing, shoddy acting and a shoddy payoff -- all done mostly by one man (leading me to think…

  4. King Solomon's Mines

With awful special effects, implausible action (can we talk about being dragged behind a train?) and John Rhys-Davies as a bad guy, how can you go wrong with this 1985 slab of cheesy goodness? Oh, yeah. Did I mention It's a Golan-Globus production?

Ever in search of adventure, explorer Allan Quatermain (Richard Chamberlain) agrees to join the beautiful Jesse Huston (Sharon Stone) on a mission to locate her archaeologist father, who has been abducted for his knowledge of the legendary mines of King Solomon.

  6. The Bermuda Depths

    • Leigh McCloskey, who played the evil Dr. Zach Kelton on "Santa Barbara," is the hero in this flick.
    • Mr. McCloskey is assisted by Carl "Apollo Creed" Weathers and Burl "Sam the Snowman" Ives.
    • The movie has a giant turtle who may remind viewers of Gamera.

  8. The Driver's Seat

    The Driver's Seat. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071442/
Andy Warhol does the mannequins and Liz Taylor brings the batshit crazy. A pretty funny movie (and book) on its own, but, man, is this thing begging to be stabbed to death. Um, I mean riffed. Just don't wear anything stain-resistant. You've been warned! (This might be a good one for Mary Jo & Bridget, especially.)

  9. All episodes of Man V Monster

You have to keep making Total Riff-Offs of Man v Monster. You just have to. I need to know what other creatures might be out there waiting for me to lick my own eyes and possibly decapitate me. I'm holding my subscription to National Geographic hostage until I get a 4th installment... Please... and Thank you.

  10. Mulligan Stew (Educational Series)

Mulligan Stew was a children's educational program, sponsored by the 4-H Council and shown both in schools and on television featured a multi-racial group of kids who make up the rock bank Mulligan Stew. The group promoted good nutrition using groovy slang and music that may have been hip in 1967 but wasn't in 1972...

...and was completely out of style when our school inflicted the episodes on my fifth grade class in 1986...

Along for the ride is their painfully unfunny adult comic relief Wilbur Dooright. Who I'm actually not sure is supposed to be the kids manager. A…

  11. Prison Ship aka Star Slammer

    Two words: Ross Hagen

This is a real jem. A sci-fi B movie that also stars the likes of John Carradine. Lot's of cheese. Not much story to speak of. They're in a space ship. It's a prison. Something goes wrong. Lot's of terrible practical effects.

Jean Claude Van Damme and Jean Claude Van Damme in a 80's action flick starring twins separated at birth.
    1. It's JCVD playing both of the roles he was born to play-- at the same time!
    2. JCVD has a writing credit.
    3. One of the baddies special attack is spurs.

  13. Tentacles (1977)

You could check out the movie at:

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076809/

Cast includes: Henry Fonda, John Huston, Shelley Winters, and Bo Hopkins

I'd also note that my cable system has recently started carrying a channel called "Comet". It's main draw seems to be that it shows reruns of StarGate SG-1, but it also shows a lot of cheesy old movies (such as Tentacles).

  16. Young Rebels.

    Young Rebels (1989)

Okay, first of all it's by the same director who gave us Samurai Cop. Also, it has a near-miss Robert Z'Dar sex scene (twice!). Never have I been so relieved to see a man cock-blocked. The gun fire all sounds like the foley artist was hard of hearing, so even the smallest pistol goes off at nuclear blast levels of sound. The women in the second near-miss Z'Dar sex scene (seriously, who thought we wanted to see that?) appears to be trying to saw herself in half with a string of pearls. The villain looks like J.Jonah…
