  4. Made for TV Alice in Wnonderland (c1985/86)

Was my ABSOLUTE favorite as a child. An all star cast, Ringo Starr as a tortoise, Shelly Winters as some kind of bird, Sammy Davis jr.a skittish mouse and so many more celebs proving the enormous drug epidemic that fueled the 80's, costumes that are so awful you'd opt to wear a Buffalo Bill original. 100year old knights with a VERY inappropriate romance vibe that VERY appropriately mirrors the spirit of Lewis Carrol when he wrote the story while crushing on the real life child of a friend that Alice is based upon. Carol Channing going full Carol Channing- yes…

  5. Owls Lords of Darkness

1983 short about owls; no not a rock band. Pretty interesting information, but the narrator, is pretty dull. It sorta has that Boggy Creek 2 and Buffalo Rider vibe.
Starts out at the beach, because we all know that owls are known for their beach nesting right? LOTS of mice were harmed in the filming of this short.

  6. No Place to Run

72 year old Venice, California shopkeeper Herschel Bernardi runs away with his orphaned adoptive teenaged grandson Scott Jacoby, when social worker Stefanie Powers tries to take him away. In this hokey overdramatized TV movie with appearances from Larry Hagman and Tom Bosley, from the producers of the Golden Girls and Aaron Spelling with nice theme song by Paul Williams which would be recycled by Spelling for the Boy in the Plastic Bubble. Bernardi was only 48 or 49 when he made this movie .https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bX9sYRNI3hg

  7. Blackbird

Michael Flatley, known as "The Lord of the Dance" has payed for, written, directed, & starred in a bad James Bond knockoff. He wears tons & tons of hats all tilted at an extremely silly angle, & has just as many beautiful young women throwing themselves at him. Released in 2022.

  8. Ray the Raychem Seal

This is a delightfully odd little industry film, made for the Raychem company, starring long-time Muppet builder and performer Dave Goelz as the titular Ray, an exuberant seal who seems to take great joy in showing off the products made by Raychem. It's fairly dry compared to the types of industrial shorts Jim Henson made, but that also makes it perfect for riffing!

  12. The Counterfeit Contessa (1994)

Téa Leoni stars in a 1994 Fox TV movie that either rips off OR is ripped off BY the 1995 Sandra Bullock movie While You Were Sleeping." Téa plays a department store sales associate who falls for a hunky rich society dude who somehow mistakes the salesgirl for a wealthy Contessa. As Téa & the beefcake start to go through the charade (because shes just SO shy that she can't explain who she really is), the hunky morons brother sees through this unintentional scam & falls for Téa the shopgirl, not the countess. Think "Cinderella" meets "Sabrina" in "While You…

  13. Sword of Heaven (1985)

The official movie summary is: "A magic blade made thousands of years ago from the remains of a meteor is stolen by a criminal gang in Japan. A Japanese policeman tracks the gang to California in his quest to get the sword back before it can be put to evil use." But I feel this fails to even scratch the surface of "wuzzahuh?" that is 'Sword of Heaven.' At no point does it mention that this is a dirt-biking kung-fu policeman played by "that guy who was in American Ninja and America Ninja 5" Tadashi Yamashita (who also appears to…

  14. Silver Streak (1976)

Silver Streak is a 1976 American buddy comedy thriller film about a murder on a Los Angeles-to-Chicago train journey. It was directed by Arthur Hiller and stars Gene Wilder, Jill Clayburgh, and Richard Pryor, with Patrick McGoohan, Ned Beatty, Clifton James, Ray Walston, Scatman Crothers, and Richard Kiel in supporting roles.

    Riff material includes:
    - Gene gets thrown off the train three times
    - The fact that today's technology would bring this chase to an end is hilarious to think about because it shows the struggle Gene has trying to get back onto the train.
    - Any train jokes are…

  15. Half Nelson (1985)

There were 8 episodes of a 1985 TV show where Joe Pesci is an ex-cop trying to be an actor. Also stars Fred Williamson, Victoria Jackson, George Kennedy, and for only 8 episodes it has a heck of a list of (what I assume are) guest stars. It's a TV show, but you've done those before, and this feels like peak riffing material: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088530/?fbclid=IwAR2Eenuxq7XS0DmMshbi6XlqyH2_B5l6IIcqKJvhG1QBmRVwYhzSEs-XnCc

  17. Black Mama White Mama (1973)

A classic prison, Filipino, gangster, revolutionary movie. A film starring Pam Grier and Margaret Markov. Set during the time that the Marcos Dynasty launched Martial Law in the Philippines, the film is about a black prostitute and a white revolutionary who must form an uneasy alliance when they are busted out of prison, then pursued by guerrillas, bounty hunters and the Army.

    Riff Material includes:
    - A premise loosely inspired by The Defiant Ones (1958)
    - Jeeps going through rivers
    - Brent (Markov) goes commando to throw off scent dogs

Trivia: Pam almost died during the production of this film.…

  20. Thunderbolt Fantasy: Bewitching Melody of the West

Saw KTMA review Revenge of the Mysterons from Mars. Though not canon to MST3K, I couldn't stop laughing at the puppet show that was going on.

So here's something to give you Nightmare Fuel made from Japanese-Taiwanese glove puppetry film. Created and written by Gen Urobuchi and produced as a collaboration between Japanese companies Nitroplus and Good Smile Company and Taiwanese puppet production company Pili International Multimedia, here's Thunderbolt Fantasy: Bewitching Melody of the West.
