5. Weekend Murders 1979

   I don't even know where to start because this movie is so bad. The music is overly dramatic and makes the horrible acting even worse. The plot is non-existent and I couldn't help riffing it myself while watching!!!

8. Chemical Wedding

   Co-written by Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson, this 2008 horror film stars Simon Callow (he of so much better stuff than this that it's almost physically painful) as a university professor possessed by the spirit of Alastair Crowley. Crowley only has a few days to perform an occult ritual that will keep him in this body before his spirit expires forever, a ritual that requires the sacrifice of a red-headed woman. Fortunately, one of the professor's students is a red-headed woman. Unfortunately (for us as much as him) it takes him about half the film's running time to make this realisation. In the meantime... whoo boy, does he keep himself busy. There's murder, there's technobabble, there's more bodily fluids than an Andres Serrano piece, and it all adds up to a plot twist so lame you'll wish you'd been sacrificed instead. It's Chemical Wedding!

9. The Cutting Edge

   Classic cheesy early 90s rom-com starring DB Sweeney about an injured hockey player partnering up with a temperamental figure skater on a quest for Olympic gold. (SPOILER: We never find out if they win or not...)

   This is a fun movie on its own, but ripe for riffing: early 90s hair, clothes, and figure skating costumes; bad movement effects to hide the fact that the stars aren't the ones doing the fancy figure skating moves; the starlet's temper tantrums ("toe pick"!), and plenty of other cheesy goofiness!

   The movie is silly and absurd but still extremely watchable and enjoyable.

10. Gangland

    Gangland (2001, Staring Costas Mandylor) is an amazingly bad movie. It is so bad that even the cover art is a basically a lie (see attached). If you caught this in a local Blockbuster you'd have thought it was a gritty, albeit low budget, movie about gangs starring Ice-T and Coolio, and introducing Kristana Loken of Terminator 3... except...

    1) Coolio and Ice-T play a short cameo at the very beginning of the movie where they play cops and boy are they bad at it...

    2) It is a post apocalyptic scifi movie about America destroyed by a plague and taken over by a mad scientist gangster who dresses in feathered capes and makes a super soldier that looks like a muscely Billy Idol and growls like a tiger because he used "all the best steroids".

    3) Kristanna Loken has an even shorter part that is possibly the most bizarrely acted scene I have ever scene where she is supposed to be a sister dying of this super plague but apparently someone forgot to tell her to act sick.

    4) It has lots of terrible one liners like (on describing the power of a powerful explosive) "That bomb makes a patriot missile look like a firecracker!".. and, after liberating a group of women from a sex dungeon, the hero (Costas Mandylor) asks them what they will do next... to which the lead sex slave says "We're going to go build New Phoenix!"... because sure...

    5) The brilliant doctor who is seeking the cure to the plague is played by Tim Thomerson... seems important to point out.

    6) Mandylor had let himself go in this movie and seems so reluctant to show off his sagging physique that at one point he is in captivity being beaten with a cat-o-nine-tails by the bad guy's henchmen while still wearing his flak jacket.

    All told is is the most spectacularly bad movie I have ever seen by accident.

14. Chiefs (1983)

    The 1983 CBS miniseries based on the Stewart Woods book is ripe for the riffing. A smorgasbord of Charlton Heston, Billy Dee Williams, Keith Carradine, Paul Sorvino, Stephen Collins, Wayne Rogers and a young John Goodman round out the cast about three generations of police chiefs from a small Georgia town and a serial killer. One of the chiefs is named Butts; I'm sure there's some low hanging fruit you can pick there.

    Based upon a titular 2005 short film by Shane Acker, the story is that the fabrication machine (some call him Mr. Fab) made an army of robots to kill of mankind using toxic gas to eradicate all humans and animals on Earth. All that's left are nine living ragdolls known as "Stichpunks," as well as the scary cyborgs that are hunting them. The goal for the stichpunks was to revive some kind of bacterical organisms to get the whole cycle started again and bring back some life into a post-war dead world. Dead, except for the cadaver robots hellbent to eradicate the nine remaining life forms on Earth.

    This animated film was produced by Tim Burton and directed by the guy who directed Wanted. The film and the original belong to Shane Acker.

    The film barely made back its budget and it had mostly mixed reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

    Now that I explained the idea of the film, who says you should take the apocalypse seriously, let alone an animated one?

16. Die Hard Dracula (1998)

20. Evils of the Night

    Julie Newmar, John Carradine and Tina Louise as Aliens!!!! 80’s oversexed teens are abducted by with Hospital Administrating Aliens with some sort of Plan from Space. Lots and of great characters like “First Girl Having Sex,” “First Guy Having Sex” and Connie! Other entertaining characters include Bumbling Garage attendants/ vacationing Teen-Traffickers who are possibly seeking immortality from their alien overlords. Contains sex montage of two synchronized horror kill bait couples, one set in a spooky house the other in the woods with bad original 80’s songs from the Big Ragoo himself Eddie Mekka! These make the love scenes from “the Room” seem well executed. Seriously after the music fades the girls asked “what was that?” The apparently cash strapped B stars, seem to have all of their scenes shot at once almost as unrelated to the rest of the picture as an Ed Wood picture. Once the Aliens cut bait to run after the baffling garage abduction climax, I guess they are trying to cover their tracks or end the movie because like a complete afterthought their retreating ship backfires some lazer bolts that kill the remaining henchman. And we know for sure that he is dead because the badly looped penultimate bit of dialogue in which an oversexed survivor says “He bled to death.” This film is Birdemic amazing!
