  1. Tales of Earthsea, Studio Ghibli

So this animated take on Ursula Le Guinn's work is patently horrible. It's insanely boring and full of bizarre and hilariously awkward moments, including an extended series of scenes at... a vegetable farm which highlight the pastoral lifestyle of the exciting and action packed wizarding community?

There is so much more... If there's any justice in the world, Bridget and Mary Jo will instantly take up this challenge and annihilate this film with the lampooning it so, so deserves.

  2. Doctor of Doom (1968)

Who can pass up a Mexican film with lady wrestlers, a guy who pretends he's a gorilla, dramatic shots of an electric arc and a plot line that needs a notepad to keep track? Seriously, riffworthy on many levels.

  3. Axeman

A super low-end slasher movie from 2013, featuring wooden acting, a goofy caricature of a basement dwelling nerd, bad dialogue and a super hammy killer whose response to being asked why he commits his crimes is "Y? Z!"

  5. Hard to Kill

Three reason to riff Hard to Kill

    1. Steven Seagal
    2. Steven Seagal
    3. Steven Seagal starring in a movie with his then wife Kelly LeBrock.

Or literally any Seagal movie you wish, because ya know… Steven Seagal. I imagine his latest 20 years of movies cost about $700 each to make.

    Fingers crossed!

  6. Amazing World of Ghosts (1978)

One of the "speculation movies" that got made during the 1970s (a la "Chariots of the Gods"). This one sets itself apart because it becomes apparent while watching it that director Wheeler Dixon seems to have a severe case of attention deficit disorder. The film is ostensibly about ghosts, but he starts throwing in the Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, aliens, and all sorts of other stuff that have nothing to do with the spirit world, although he tries to make the connections between them ("are ghosts really the living dead from outer space?"). This is one pants-crapping insane film that…

  7. Wunderland (2018)

Filmed on an air soft course in Minnesota, this reenactment of the Battle of the Bulge deserves a good Riffing. Not for the scenes of tanks and jeeps driving that make Grandfather's paddling in Zindy The Swamp Boy look like The Fast and Furious. Not for the water bottles laying around the set. Not for for the single-shot panzerfaust still having a warhead on its tube after it was fired. Not for the terrain going from snow to no snow and then back to snow. Not for the SCR-536 Handie-Talkies' antennas not being extended so that the soldiers are not…

It's the third in the trilogy of Donald G. Jackson movies about horrible abomination puppet creatures made for kids & starring Joe Estevez.

  9. The Fearless Four (1997)

A feature-length film based on the Bremen Town Musicians, a fable not known for having much happening. Even Jim Henson struggled with it, so what chance did this movie have, hitting theaters the same year as Titanic?

    Reasons to riff:

-Wildly inconsistent visuals. You've got Ralph Bakshi-esque backgrounds, Don Bluth-esque characters, and the dreaded late-90s CGI, and it never gels. They barely feel like they're part of the same movie.

-The wasted talent of blues legend BB King, along with James Ingram, Oleta Adams and Zucchero as the main characters. They take nearly half the movie to get together as…

  12. Animal Farm (1954)

A family-friendly movie about cartoon farm animals teaching us about living on a farm and... Wait what?! It's violent?! But it's rated G! There blood and death in this movie?! I guess that's what they meant when they said "don't judge a book by its cover".

  14. Antebellum (2020)

Considered one of the worst horror movies of 2020, Antebellum tries to be "Get Out" meets "The Village" but fails. A poorly executed story with poor acting, it is filled with character choices and on-the-nose political commentary that makes no logical sense. Some well deserved Riffing moments include Confederate soldiers chanting the Nazi slogan "Blood and Soil" which was not coined until several decades later, a statue of Robert E. Lee in the middle of the woods, a secret planation in the middle of an amusement park that has no wall or security system for keeping slaves from escaping and…

  15. Screams of a Winter Night

A framing story for an anthology of smaller scary stories, this late 70s horror is equally entertaining and hilarious. It’s got cheesy sound effects and hammy acting but it endears itself because you can tell the people involved wanted to make a the movie. It’s great for RiffTrax because it touches on some antiquated themes, horror cliches, 70s cheese, and obvious other fun goofs to poke fun at.

  17. Time Runner aka Time Warrior (1993)

Mark Hammil is the protagonist of this alien invasion flick that's set in 2022. Why not a timely riff treatment?

  18. Mike, please teach us to riff

Would Mike ever consider teaching a class on riffing? I signed up to take one with Joel Hodgson and don't tell Joel but Mike is my favorite writer and host. I know I'm not the only one who would fork out my hard-earned cash for the experience. Thanks for the consideration, and Happy New Year!

  19. Rage On The Asphalt

I am currently taking Driver's Ed classes, and this is one of the required videos for one of the sections. I think it would be pretty funny if this one was riffed. It reminds me of a really crappy Twilight Zone episode about road rage.
