The Fearless Four (1997)
A feature-length film based on the Bremen Town Musicians, a fable not known for having much happening. Even Jim Henson struggled with it, so what chance did this movie have, hitting theaters the same year as Titanic?
Reasons to riff:
-Wildly inconsistent visuals. You've got Ralph Bakshi-esque backgrounds, Don Bluth-esque characters, and the dreaded late-90s CGI, and it never gels. They barely feel like they're part of the same movie.
-The wasted talent of blues legend BB King, along with James Ingram, Oleta Adams and Zucchero as the main characters. They take nearly half the movie to get together as a group, and yet two of them fall in love at the end despite having no chemistry whatsoever simply because the make and female lead have to fall in love.
-The half-baked plot includes an evil corporation that wants to make sausage out of cats and dogs, the heroes trying to go to Paris even though they're nowhere near the French border, and a mouse that serves as a blatant deus ex machina.
