Sleeping Beauty (1987)
Really, really bad musical version of the fairy tale. Banal songs, horrid music score, wooden acting, and totally ridiculous plot points. (Seriously, no one thinks about going outside the kingdom for new clothing for 16 years?!)

Alice In Wonderland (1933)
This black-and-white kiddie movie mashes together Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass (as, really, nearly all Alice film versions seem to do, most likely because the Tweedles are simply too cool to leave out). It features some pretty big actors of the day (W. C. Fields, Cary Grant)...and stuffs them into costumes that will haunt your dreams. The Rocketeer
Long before they owned Marvel or made "The Incredibles," Disney tried to bring a fairly unknown comic book character to the silver screen with "The Rocketeer."
Set in 1938 Los Angeles, a hot shot pilot named Cliff Secord (I'm not kidding) and his mechanic buddy Peavy (not the stereo system) find a prototype rocket pack. Once they reveal that they have it, they start being chased by FBI, Mobsters, and even Nazis.
Disney tried very hard to make it work but in the end it fell very short of the source material. Watching it reminded me of the old Captain…

Fantasy Mission Force
Jackie Chan's most surreal film, which he only appeared in for about fifteen minutes of total screen time, as a favor to its lead actor for saving his life from the Triads. It's downright bizarre, and should provide you with lots of great material.

Dragon Ball: The Magic Begins (1991)
Made in Taiwan, this unauthorized live-action adaptation of Japan's infamous DRAGONBALL manga features a rag-tag group of heroes going up against the evil King Horn, who plans to uses the mythical wish-granting Dragon Balls to rule the world.

This movie could never be made today. The remake supports this assertion.
It's a good movie that still oozes riffable material.

Titan A.E. (2000)
Not a prequel to Will and Jaden Smith's movie. An underrated animated feature with early millennium CGI mixed in before it was overdone.
Matt Damon, Drew Barrymore, Bill Pullman, Nathan Lane, John Leguizamo, Janeane Garofalo. Plus a nice soundtrack.
The film that may have killed Fox Animation Studios and Don Bluth's career.

Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)
Directed by Francis Ford Coppola of Godfather fame. The poetry and drama in each frame of film.
Oh God! The exquisite acting from a FULL cast of exquisite actors. Gary Oldman in the fright wig. Keanu Reeves with his British surfer accent. Winona Ryder who may have been undead before the movie. Anthony Hopkins as a potential sex offender. Cary Elwes, The Princess Bride's Westley, pops up too.
Annual Holiday theme viewings. Halloween... maaaybe Valentine's Day.

The Red Violin (1998)
I had to be dragged to see this in a foreign film theater 'cause a relative wanted to go see it... then lived through hell seeing it again in Foreign Film Class - at a college (though without clones like the film that was made there - later made it into a MST3K show). Therefore, if I have to see it again, it'll be bearable torture.

Blood Beach
Blood Beach...so you got out of the water cause of the killer sharks and piranhas but ow the beach is trying to eat you! This is a late 70's film with a giant critter, bad acting and a really cheesy song! Ripe for riffing I think!

This is a a hokey adventure with stars Peter Cushing and Doug McClure, and features pig people as well as monsters wrapped in pillows and duct tape that cannot figure out how to put their arms down. Ha!

The Yin and the Yang of Mr. Go (1971)
A psychotically bad movie, directed by Burgess Meredith, who also has a role as a Chinese acupuncturist. Set in Hong Kong, it follows the confused adventures of an American draft dodger and wannabe writer (Jeff Bridges) whose path intersects with that of the shadowy criminal mastermind, Mr. Yin Yang Go (James Mason...yes, JAMES MASON). The McGuffin is a laser weapon sought by several governments - it reminds me of the giant raspberry on Exeter's ship in 'This Island Earth'. Terry and the Pirates (1940 serial)
Now that you're done with the awesome Old-Timey Batman serial, I'd love to see another serial done. The old Terry and the Pirates serial from 1940 is so primed for riffing, complete with offensive yellow-face half-Asian bad guy, henchmen in bath robes, a whiny title character worse than Luke Skywalker wanting to go to Tosche Station, and a man in a gorilla suit!
