2. Thoroughly Modern Millie

   A musical about kidnapping girls and selling them into slavery. It's, obviously, a comedy with Mary Tyler Moore, Julie Andrews, and Carol Channing. It takes place in the 1920s and there's even jokes about how hard it is to wear beads when you have breasts. It's funnier and more painful than it sounds. Carol Channing is a jazz baby, after all.

6. Tom Sawyer (1973)

Ho-Chunk tribesman Kunu Hank portrayed Injun Joe.

   The film was produced by Reader's Digest. The film's screenplay and songs were written by Robert B. Sherman and Richard M. Sherman who would go on to provide more award-winning music for the sequel Huckleberry Finn. It received three nominations at the 46th Academy Awards; Best Original Score, Best Production Design and Best Costume Design.

   Reasons why we should riff:

8. The Christmas Carol (1949, narrated by Vincent Price)

   You know you're in trouble when they don't even get the title right. (It's A Christmas Carol, not THE Christmas Carol. ...Actually, according to Dickens it's A Christmas Carol In Prose, Being A Ghost Story Of Christmas, but who calls it that?)

   And you're in even MORE trouble when they misspell the main character's NAME in the opening credits. (Who is this "Ebeneezer"?)

   This was an early television production--and I mean EARLY, as it wasn't even the fifties yet. It's a half-hour short that was meant for syndication on 22 stations across the country on Christmas Day of 1949. Vincent Price introduces and narrates, and does his usual good job, but if you thought his old horror movies were the cheapest and cheesiest things he'd ever been in, you've got another think coming.

   As is common in these early TV productions of A Christmas Carol (see my submission on two made-for-TV musical versions from the fifties), most of the American actors don't even bother with English accents. In fact, Scrooge sounds more like a prospector from the Old West, or like Abe Simpson. (And looks more like Ben Franklin.)

   The entire Christmas Past sequence consists of the Ghost (an unremarkable guy swathed in a white sheet) showing Scrooge his boyhood at school--no visit from sister Fan, no visit to Fezziwig's party, and his breakup with his fiancee isn't shown either; the Ghost just mentions to Scrooge how he drove away the woman he loved. That's the entirety of the whole segment. I guess they couldn't afford to pay an actress to play Belle.

   The other sections are similarly shortened--Christmas Present is only a visit to the Cratchits, and Christmas Yet to Come (the Ghost here looks like a guy in a cheap homemade Jawa costume) actually allows us THREE scenes--the Cratchits again, a glimpse of Scrooge's former colleagues, and his gravesite.

   The acting is about as wooden as a Groot family reunion--the best actor in the whole thing is Vincent Price, and he isn't even technically part of the story! One wonders what a version with him playing Scrooge might have been like. There are other notable things about this cast--for one thing, there's a nine-year-old Jill St. John, under her real name of Jill Oppenheim, as one of the Cratchit daughters. And Scrooge is played by Taylor Holmes, who had some good character roles in high-profile movies like Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and voiced King Stefan in Disney's Sleeping Beauty--all with far better performances than he turns in here.

10. Kiss Daddy Goodbye

    My suggestion is "Kiss Daddy Goodbye", a sweet little "horror" film from the 1981 Southern Ca. Malibu area.

    It has young telekinetic/telepathic twins-- or maybe just siblings, a zombie dad in a three piece suit, and a lame evil biker gang. The credits are magic markered on to photographs, and the already mentioned zombie dad gets to burrow through the beach sand like a mole-- again in a three piece suit.

    The film sort of confuses day and night from shot to shot, thinks that kids playing an Atari 2600 is inherently creepy, and has some mean surfers telekinetically(?) forced to fall down into some caca.

    Pretty low on gore-- I honestly can't think of a gory part in it-- and pretty high on laughably bad acting and off editing. Special bonus: it stars former swinging teen idol Fabian, Marilyn Burns from the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", Jon Cedar from "Day of the Animals" and a girl named Gay French.

    The film takes itself way to seriously and is already pretty funny without riffs. I think it could be some pretty good stuff w/ riffs.

    "A Night to Remember", the black & white, 1958 version of "Titanic" with 50% the run-time of James Cameron's version and 100% less Jack and Rose.

    With the maiden voyage of Titanic 2 set for 2020, why not go for the throat with a VOD release? Heck, it may even be good flotsam for Bridget and Mary Jo.

15. Rifftrax Live: - Turkey Day Ramalamadingdong Thanksgiving Celebration

    It would be a fun idea to put together a "Rifftrax Live: - Turkey Day Ramalamadingdong Thanksgiving Celebration." This would be a Thanksgiving related series of video shorts and comedy skits, all relating to the theme of Thanksgiving. Bring back all of the old and new MST3K members for a real celebration of fun and laughter, and do it like a typical dysfunctional family who is forced into an annual family gathering, with people that have nothing-in-common with each other except the enjoyment of food and small talk that nobody listens to or cares about. Previous turkey day shows included wild diverse characters that were from previous MST3K parodies of movies. (Mr. B Natural, Pitch, etc.) That might be a good place to start, or build upon this suggestion for something completely different, and start a brand new Turkey Day tradition.

    The song is performed so forcefully and passionately you'd think they were singing about eight wild west folk heroes from Scottland.
