  1. Benji's Very Own Christmas Story

A man in Switzerland who claims to be St. Nicholas takes a girl through a door marked "Verboten" into Santa's workshop.
Here, we learn about Santa's changing roles in different countries via costume changes and a song or two. We also get to see the elf children (with discolored pointed putty on their noses) wearing politically-questionable cultural attire in an ironic effort toward unification. Watch out for those rice hats! How could you turn down a Christmas short that takes creative cues from 1959's Santa Claus??

Also, the girl happens to be holding the dog named Benji in her arms…

  2. Terrarium (aka War of the Planets) (2003)

Extremely low-rent sci-fi film about a group of astronauts who volunteer to start a colony on a newly discovered planet. After 15 years in cryosleep, they awaken to learn that their ship has crash-landed and they're all stuck in their cryotubes. Also, there's a hairy alien on board (which is clearly a guy in a gorilla suit) devouring them. Features sub-amateur acting, CGI that would seem cheap in a PS1 cutscene, and blood/gore effects than didn't even merit an R rating. Spoiler Alert: they kill the beast, escape, and learn that they've been placed in a glass dome for observation…

  4. Garage Sale Mystery (Hallmark Channel)

Please do a Garage Sale Mystery with Lori Loughlin! I don't mind some other Hallmark mystery movies, but those are just too funny. Her husband apparently never works, granted he's ALWAYS hanging around the house. Her kids are constantly on cheesy "typical teenager" predicaments, and the girl that plays her daughter in the first movie is rude and annoying. There's also a 50's diner they WON'T. STOP. GOING TO. Not to mention the cops/investigators sharing all info with citizen Lori. And she's always stupidly getting herself in dangerous situations that could totally have been avoided. But I've said enough.

  6. Meatballs (1979)

re you ready for the riffing?
Are you ready for the birds and bees,
    the apple trees,
and a whole lot of riffing around

Are you ready for the riffing?
Are you ready for the hot nights?
Are you ready for the fireflies,
    the moonlit skies,
and a whole lot of riffing around

No more pencils, no more books
    No more teachers dirty looks
    No more math and history,
Summer time has set us free

Are you ready for the riffing?
Are you ready for the good times?..."

  10. Potato Cultivation and Distribution (1940s): "And now the destiny of the potato is fulfilled"

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsP26MxPX2c

The first 28 minutes are devoted to the growth and bagging of potatoes, the last two minutes go over how bags of potatoes are loaded and unloaded from a boxcar so the potatoes can be sold at grocery stores. Coincidentally, this short was made by Union Pacific Railroads.

  11. Crazy Knights/Ghost Crazy (1944)

Three goofballs run up against ghosts and a giant gorilla in a haunted house.
With Shemp "The Three Stooges" Howard and directed by William Beaudine the man who directed the unforgettable movie calssics, "Billy the Kid Versus Dracula" and "Jesse James Meets Frankenstein's Daughter."

This movie is just ripe for riffing.
    How do I know?
I can smell it through my computer screen as I write this. PHEW!

  15. Jacob Two-Two Meets The Hooded Fang-1978 version

Trippy and disturbing family movie about a little kid who says everything twice and the creepy characters who harass him (think Romper Room meets Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, yet fails on both accounts)

  17. American Ninja 1 and 2!

A lot of us grew up with these movies in the 80s, and they have Michael Dudikoff, who could very well be the inspiration for Derek Zoolander.

Also, lots of scenery chewing from Steve James.

  20. richie rich

He's home alone again... well, it's huge and it has a McDonald's in the house. I'm talking about Macaulay Culkin as Richie Rich.
