An educational cartoon from 1954 that lets the viewer know that capitalism was always the basis for all of our freedoms.

There's also the message that the government provides vital services but that means taxes, so be sure to protest the government taxes.

And there are also women in bikini's standing in front of open fridges. Because of course.

  4. Inferno

Visually gorgeous and short on logic and sense. When a woman is killed after getting hold of a book about witches (the 3 mother's) her brother wants to find out why. Dario Argento's follow up to Suspiria that walks the line between creepy and confusing

  5. The Battle Wizard (Tian long ba bu) (1977)

Not your standard martial arts movie.

A man looses both his legs, to a man who shoot lasers from his fingertips, and replaces them with expandable bird like legs. And vows revenge on the man's son.
The son goes out on the world to learn martial arts. Befriends a woman who can control snakes and falls in love with a woman who shoots daggers from a bone.
This movie involves 'nail biting' fights against a giant snake puppet and a man in a gorilla suit.

Quickly came to the top of my list of favorite cheesy movies. Give it a…

  8. A Christmas Story 2 (2012)

The 1983 classic A Christmas Story wasn't the first adaptation of Jean Shepherd's writings--PBS did some adaptations in the late seventies/early eighties. (In fact, if you do a YouTube search for "Phantom of the Open Hearth" you'll see the very first version of the leg lamp!) Nor was it the last--PBS did another adaptation in 1988 (Ollie Hopnoodle's Haven of Bliss) and in 1994, there was a (very limited) theatrical release of It Runs In The Family (renamed My Summer Story for video), which was actually billed as the sequel to ACS. Whatever you may think of these two follow-ups/sequels…

  9. Frogmen (1994)

O.J. Simpson's final project before his legendary double-murder trial was this series-pilot about a squad of retired Navy SEALs who now run a diving equipment-shop in Malibu. Needless to say, they also hire themselves out as crusaders for justice. Ripe for rediscovery? We couldn't agree more!

  11. The Words

This 2012 movie is allegedly a Drama, Mystery, and Romance, but it's really a turgid and lugubrious melodrama. It claims it will keep you guessing until the end, but I wouldn't count on it. Offers great scope for riffing. It is proud of delivering lines like "Another part of being a man, no matter how painful it might be, is accepting your own limitations." and "He loved her. He loved New York. But at night, when the city was finally quiet, he wrote."

  12. Parting Shots (1998)

Worst smaltzy scoring of a film ever. Trashy Brit comedy from the bloke who directed Charles Bronsons' uberviolent Death Wish.

  13. Baywatch Nights Season 2

Baywatch (the original series, not the new film with the star of High School Musical) had a spin-off called Baywatch Nights. The first season was about the characters solving crime, but the second season took a more X Files theme... they fought monsters! But, the monsters are rarely shown to the audience and the acting is terrible. So there.

  14. The Amityville Theater

Do you long for extended James Nguyen-ian high school teacher minivan driving and parking scenes? Then The Amityville Theater is for YOU! This straight to video release features monotone lines delivered with all the enthusiasm of ordering Chinese food plus the added benefit of nonsensical flashbacks. Oh this one should be riffed and deserves to be!

  15. The Keeper of Time

Filmed in beautiful Lithuania, The Keeper of Time stars Michael O'Hearn, Adam T. Dawson, and Parker Alexander. Like any good movie, The Keeper of Time begins with children being killed by a demon. A good looking female shape-shifting demon, but still a demon. After two children bit the dust, we join the last child on the demon's hit list- little Timmy, the week from 12 year old farm boy. Timmy and his mother return to his home, only to find that a sinister looking women dressed in black has given their father/husband apples to eat. When Timmy states that he…

  17. Paradise Alley

Good Lord, what a forgotten mess this 1978 film is. Sylvester Stallone stars as Cosmo Carboni (I swear I'm not making that name up), who tries to fight his way to the top of the supposedly popular world of underground wrestling in 1946.

    1. Stallone wrote, directed, and stars in this turkey.
    2. He also sings the films theme song
    3. His wrestling name id "Kid Salami," and he wears a neckless of salami sticks around his neck (God help me, it's true).

..and for the most bizarre of reasons, Tom Waits appears in this film!

  18. The Woman Eater aka The Womaneater(1958)

A mad scientist captures women and feeds them to a flesh-eating tree, which in turn gives him a serum that helps bring the dead back to life.
This movie explains in detail why Obamacare really needs to be reworked ASAP.

  20. More DVDs

As much as I like being able to pull up your movies on my laptop, I'd really like to have a few more on my shelf. Titles like Sons of Hercules, Revenge of Dr X, City of the Dead, any of their public domain titles; I'd love to see any of them on disc. I already own several, but if they were put on disc, I might go ahead and buy then again.
