Death Warmed Up (1984)
I watched this film on one of those giant compilations of horror movies and it was totally nonsensical! The plot sounds pretty basic, but there is just so much that just makes no sense. Also, they seem to set up a showdown between two characters that never materializes on screen. I think it is Australian and is sort of a zombie film, but not really... https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089002/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0

Death Cage 1988 (Bloodfight 2 in the UK)
There's a low budget film I watched recently in Cantonese and English. It's called Death Cage. Death Cage is a 1988 Hong Kong Martial Arts film starring Joe Lewis and Robin Shou. It goes by Bloodfight 2 in the UK, but the characters and plot have nothing to do with the first Bloodfight. Also, that version of the film is badly dubbed.
The plot of the film has plenty of Riff material, such as the cliché Rival gym trope, soundtrack dissonance, over-the-top fight scenes, death scenes that are almost on parr with Night of the Lepus death scenes, training montages,…

The Mummy Returns
This movie progresses at a rapid enough pace so that there is plenty of material to riff off of. There are several weird moments that are great for jokes too. Some examples: Zombie monkeys, poorly explained flashbacks, attempts at dumb comedy that fall a little flat, and poor quality CG.

The Fighting Lady, 1944
[Public Domain?] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pt58grDVsnI
The plot of the film revolves around the life of seamen on board an anonymous aircraft carrier. Because of war time restrictions, the name of the aircraft carrier was disguised as “the Fighting Lady”, although she was later identified as USS Yorktown (CV-10). (“Fighting Lady” was the known moniker of the Yorktown, just as “Lady Lex” for Lexington, “The Big E” for Enterprise, etc…) A few shots of aircraft landing were filmed aboard the Yorktown’s sister ship USS Ticonderoga.

The Little Princess
[Public Domain?] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Khyp-Gzi4u4
A riches to rags story featuring Shirley Temple. After her father is killed in war, she is allowed to stay at her private school by becoming a child servant to her former classmates. She befriends some teachers who I think eventually adopt her out of this hellhole.

Intruder
this 1989 Full Moon movie is rife with long silent pauses, weak acting, thin plot, terrible dialog and a Bruce Campbell cameo! there are some really interesting camera angles and quite passable practical gore effects thanks to Sam Raimi and Greg Nicotero. Sam plays a character that lasts nearly half the movie!

Bright eyes (1934)
Shirley Temple is 5 aaaaaand her dad's dead. So of course her mother hit by a car. And then everyone is fighting to adopt her. She also sings a song on a plane.
The Blue Bird is also exceedingly weird.

Cocaine and Blue Eyes
O.J. Simpson's in it.
The Juice plays a private eye investigating (surprise!) murder.
O.J. even narrates the movie in voice-over.
It was supposed to be a pilot for a TV series.

Fateful Findings
Fateful Findings is a 2012 American independent science fiction film directed, written, produced, edited by, and starring Neil Breen,[1] who was also in charge of production design, set decoration, makeup, sound editing, catering, and casting. The film was screened on December 8, 2012, at the invite-only Butt-Numb-A-Thon, had a public festival debut on May 23, 2013, at the Seattle International Film Festival,[2] and was released to theaters in early 2014.[3]
Upon release, it was declared one of the "worst films ever made" and quickly gained a cult following.[4]
Among other things, viewers cite the film's cryptic and incomprehensible plot, poor…16 votes -
Futuresport
A made for TV film from 1998. "The film is set in 2025, and centers on a sport called "Futuresport" (a combination of basketball, baseball and hockey that uses hoverboards and rollerblades) created as a non-lethal way to reduce gang warfare." (Taken from the Wikipedia entry)
Stars Dean Cain, Vanessa Willaims, and Wesley Snipes.
This sounds GOLD for riffing

The Requin
90s darling Alicia Silverstone goes on a remote getaway to Vietnam with her husband to save their marriage after tragedy strikes. As we all know, tragedy strikes in threes, and next thing you know, a monsoon has swept their floating villa out to sea right into a school of Great White sharks.
The Requin is:
1) It's filled with dreadfully out-of-touch and mind-numbing dialogue.
2) Incompetently handled mental illness themes.
3) Mostly made up of pointless scenes stretched to agonizing lengths to pad screen time, only to end with a jarring transition to the next one.
4) The Last Shark…16 votes -
DREAMANIAC (1986)

Beasts of the Field
This has A Talking Cat!?!-style filming and acting. There's a lady who wants to host a show about the paranormal, and maybe that's fair 'cause she's pretty damn ghoulish herself. There's a Norman wannabe, a clothed sex scene, and a chunky medic. Oh yeah, they're supposed to be looking for a descendant of the pteranodon. Not to be missed! 😄

The Fantastic Adventures of Unico
Is both childish and cutesy and pretty dark.
A cat that wants to be a wish is magically turned into a girl.
There's this weird statue demon that is literally killed by kindness.
The main villain drugs a girl in a children's film.
Produced by the company that brought you Hello Kitty.

Meat and Romance (1940)
What do you get when you combine "Three Magic Words", "With an All-Star Cast", "Cooking Terms and What They Mean", and "Carving Magic"? You get "Meat and Romance", the tender tale of yet another newlywed wife who never learned to cook (didn't any school offer home economics back then?). Fortunately for her, her sister- and father-in-law show up (unannounced), and sis is a "famous home economist" (which is pounded into our brains more times than humanly necessary), and she takes our heroine to the butcher shop for a long lecture on different cuts of meat, then back to the kitchen…

Adventures in Babysitting (1987)
A straightforward Chris Columbus classic featuring Elisabeth Shue with a brilliant cameo by Vincent D'Onofrio as "not Thor". It's one of my all time favorites and it's just begging for a riff.

Amazing Ape
https://m.imdb.com/title/tt2014341/plotsummary?ref_=tt_ov_pl
This gem of a movie I found at the dollar tree. A diamond in the rough. An ape is broken out teaches a young boy with bone cancer he can be cured by stopping medication and using organic deodorant. Can’t make this shit up.
My fave Amazon review (thanks ‘Ben’):
You blew up my my ape based movie experience! DARN YOU ALL TO HECK!

the beast within (1984)
How many films are there of a were-cicada? I'm guessing one, The Beast Within. Takes the term "kinky sex" to new levels. Some of the scenes are so crazy, in a funny way, that you can't help but laugh.

Faerie Tale Theatre - 3 Little Pigs
Shelly Duvall recruits lots of great actors to play some of our favorite fairy tale characters. But the 3 Little Pigs is one of the best; Jeff Goldblum as the Big Bad Wolf along with Billy Crystal, Fred Willard and Stephen Furst as the pigs. It's pretty amazing 1985 magic.
Any movie though in the series would be fun to riff.16 votes
