Mary Lewis, Student Nurse (1961)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RXCxZXhZnU
An educational short from the UK where Mary Lewis is "jolly glad" to learn how to be a nurse. Hats are folded, biscuits and tea are consumed, a dance is attended. Blink and you'll miss the short scenes where patients get helped.

Jerry Pulls the Strings
A 1938 "short" film in which the grumpy owner of a coffee company refuses to let his daughter marry her sweetheart because he won't take a real job instead of playing with marionettes all day. The young man then wins him over by putting on a puppet show about the history and production of coffee. Features classic 1930s-era stereotypes and perhaps the creepiest goat puppet ever to grace the screen.
Can currently be seen on Amazon Prime in the "Puppet Movies" compilation.

This is Ceder Crest (1954): It's a 25 minute tour of a woman's college
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6EJAgFuw74
I'm on the fence about suggesting this because it feels like a slog, but maybe that'd make for a solid two-parter riff?
The short itself is a 25-minute promo for a woman's college in 1954 with each scene not lasting for much more than 30 seconds. The only person who talks other than the narrator is the college's president.

Fabulous Adventures of the Baron Munchausen (1979)
No, not the Terry Gilliam film—the 1979 French Cartoon. I grew up watching and loving the English version and as I became an adult, I realized how horrid this fim is. I’m just going to put the highlights here:
The animation looks like the artist was suffering a grand mal seizure, but he said “Screw the hospital—I HAVE A DEADLINE!!”
The music in this film was composed by Michel Legrand (!!!), which I assume was like Andy Kaufman starring in a film about robots.
The animator of this film wanted to be the French Walt Disney. I’m not kidding. It…

From Chrysler: How to Go Places - 1954
This is wonderfully campy short
It has perfect gaps in narration for riff-talking
The old fashioned ideas contrasted to todays travel would be funnyThis would fit in perfectly with all the other shorts Rifftrax has riffed. :)

Caught in a Rip-Off (1974)
From the people who brought you "Cheating" and "Shake Hands with Danger" comes this 1974 scare film about shoplifting, entitled "Caught in a Rip-Off." Some unseen guy who sniffed one too many cans of spray paint (to paraphrase the words of one YouTube commenter) tells about how clerks in your local Hobby Lobby employ one sly tactic after another to discourage burglary. Accentuated with weird (but not atypical) 1970s Moog synthesizer musical stings, this makes for an interesting subject that is riff-worthy.

New world thru chemistry 1939 with audio from New world thru chemistry 1936
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cy7zrtFeuwU
Someone posted a youtube video that uses video from one short and audio from another. Sometimes the audio and the video work well enough together. Other times it goes off the rails. E.g., a waiter spills wine on a woman's blouse while explosions play. Wallpaper is printed while the narrator talks about using coal and ammonia to make fertilizer for farms. It'd make for a hell of a riff.

Basic Typing Methods
I found a video on YouTube called "Basic Typing Methods". It was produced by the Navy in 1943 as a brief lesson in basic typing (hence the title).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCpZ3CP7IAs&t=1609s
Here are my reasons: 1) I don't think the woman smiles. Ever. Even though she's won global awards for her typing, apparently. 2) Any short produced by the military in the 1940's could use a good riffing. 3) Nobody does a better job of riffing shorts than you guys.20 votes
