BALLAD OF THE BIG ONES (1969) - Truck Song, but about the ********* Clydesdales
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ab7rvuiIwi0
This short has three sections that literally sing the praises of the Clydesdales that pull the beer carts and two sections where a narrator talks over film of horses walking around.
The song is performed so forcefully and passionately you'd think they were singing about eight wild west folk heroes from Scottland.
The "BALLAD OF THE BIG ONES" is now available as a 33 1/3.

Private Snafu or A Few Quick Facts (1942-1946)
Series of animated shorts used to educate WWII soldiers on many touchy, difficult subjects. PVT Snafu being voiced by the legendary Mel Blanc.
One has to be wary to not pick the shorts with obvious racist depictions of the Japanese army/navy/etc.... One episode was written by Dr. Seus.

Before animation involved plot or artistry. Utterly baffling.

Benji's Very Own Christmas Story
A man in Switzerland who claims to be St. Nicholas takes a girl through a door marked "Verboten" into Santa's workshop.
Here, we learn about Santa's changing roles in different countries via costume changes and a song or two. We also get to see the elf children (with discolored pointed putty on their noses) wearing politically-questionable cultural attire in an ironic effort toward unification. Watch out for those rice hats! How could you turn down a Christmas short that takes creative cues from 1959's Santa Claus??Also, the girl happens to be holding the dog named Benji in her arms…

Getting Off on the Right Foot (1972)
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4Rx57jVGfso
In case “Last Clear Chance” and “Days of Our Years” weren’t enough, here’s another western railroad short from the days before mounting and dismounting moving equipment was banned. There’s a very good reason that practice was banned: knees and ankles. Also, it shows LA in the early 1970s, particularly the extra-nice parts of town where the railroad yards were. And finally, if it gets the safety message out, it deserves to be shown.18 votes -

Z is for Zoo
Here is a vintage educational short from 1970, produced by our good friends at ACI. Though this short taking place at some zoo was made to teach young viewers to read, it starts with some rather bizarre and unsettling visuals that always made me feel weirded out, ever since I saw this short as a small child on a "Know-It-Owl" VHS tape.
To view the short, go to this link -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ye1nS_sdQb8 -- and skip to 15:32.

It Was All A Dream Sequence
A collection of shorts where something is sold in dreamsequence like Design for Dreaming or Once Upon A Honeymoon. I doubt those are the only two advertising fever dreams. I’d love if Mary Jo and Bridget joined in too.

Future World
Could possibly be one of the worst movies with an A cast, challenging even Prisoners of the Lost Universe.
Future World is complete trash starring James Franco, Suki Waterhouse, Lucy Liu, Milla Jovovich, Method Man, Snoop Dog and more!

Hell-Bent For Election (1944)
Something different from animator Chuck Jones: an allegorical PSA about voting for FDR. It's actually quite good (one of the first cartoons from the studio that became UPA), but very "old timey," and those always are good for riffing.

Captain Z-RO
Found this cheesy sci-fi serial which is apparently public domain, the announcer is apparently desperate to remind us of the lead character’s name. Clunky looking robot in this episode called imaginatively Roger (could have been Robert I suppose!) and Z-ro is able to conduct experiments in time and space.
It’s like a 50s Retro Doctor Who without the Tardis or the quality of the writing.

Siberia Invites You To Visit: 19??
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ET3P3UJXl00
This short film tries to sell westerners on visiting Sibera. A place with an inland beach, villiages with museums, a college, the siberian tiger, Donald Duck intellectual property theft, and so much more.
The short tries its hardest, but Siberia doesn't come across all that much more interesting than Milwaukee. Milwaukee if it were stretched to cover 5,000 miles, at that. The short even ends with a woman dancing to a generic lounge act while a bartender pours a giant bottle of booze.
Siberia invites you: a magical land where the sea air is pungent, the summers are hot…
