Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich (2018)
Starring Thomas Lennon (TV's "RENO 911!"), Barbara Crampton (RE-ANIMATOR), and Udo Kier (BLADE).
"Nearly thirty years after a Nazi puppeteer was gunned down by police, his collection of living puppets return to wreak havoc in some of the most mean spirited and pointless death sequences I've seen in a horror movie."
I've been a fan of the PUPPET MASTER series for 20 years. I've tried to stand by it during the high and lows. I even have a soft spot for lesser entries like RETRO PUPPET MASTER (1999), which had the fortune of being riffed. I have been openly critical of the more recent "Axis" story arc, but this in name only attempt at a reboot is probably the worst film in the series. It's cheap, the acting is weak, the effects are no better than the worst of the series, the re-designs aren't that impressive, and worst of all the script is not only mean spirited toward minorities, but it's just down right amateur. It feels more like a fan film made by people who have heard of the PUPPET MASTER films, but have never actually watched any of them. How this became the franchise's first theatrical release is frankly baffling.
