What I thought about this was Joe Dante always loved endangering Benji's family in these films, and this one was the source material. The funny part is when the kidnappers' plans get foiled when Benji has to bite the kids' nanny, and grabs the woman's (who was posing as a maid or something, I forget, but she was the one who helped the kids get snatched) purse which has the incriminating evidence. But the more hilarious scenes are first when Benji is running back to the owners' after his 'girlfriend' gets kicked by the villains, which you see the scenes replayed as Benji runs. Then when everyone goes running back to stop the kidnappers, like the whole neighborhood (yes, they ACTUALLY RUN back, not hop in cars, or such, but run down the sidewalk), while all the kidnappers do is wait for the woman to come back. Like, wow!

Still a better actor than Wings Hauser.

Compared to this, a night at Michael Vick's house would seem to be the less abusive option, dog-wise.
