Meteor (1979)
After a collision with a comet, a nearly 8km wide piece of the asteroid "Orpheus" is heading toward Earth. If it hits, it will cause an incredible catastrophe which will probably extinguish mankind. To stop the meteor, NASA wants to use the illegal (? How'd it get up there?) nuclear weapon satellite "Hercules," but soon discovers that it doesn't have enough firepower. Their only chance to save the world is to join forces with the USSR, which has also launched such an illegal satellite. (Of course, they're Russians. Everything they do is illegal.)
It's Armageddon meets The Core, with Sean Connery (!) in the "Don't you people get it??" scientist role, and Natalie Wood finally getting to play her namesake.

Yeah, we saw about 3 minutes of this and stopped it. Just too cheesy. But if we'd have had the energy, we'd have riffed it!
