Starflight: The Plane That Couldn't Land (AKA Starflight One)
Lee Majors stars as the pilot of a supersonic space plane that is knocked off course on its maiden voyage and must be rescued by the space shuttle (several space shuttles, actually). I think Hal Linden was in it, too. A bad TV disaster movie from the early 80s.

This movie is utterly ridiculous. It devolves quickly from an interesting idea to downright lunacy, while maintaining it's sombre, serious tone throughout. The problem is the utterly laughable science, and the fact that I guess they forgot they were supposed to be weightless in space? That, and multiple launches of the Challenger Shuttle back to back to back, another shuttle just hanging out in space, a detachable space pod that fails (but they still use another one), an exploding space tunnel that causes no harm to either ship (and flaps wildly in the space breeze). NASA actually allowing their name and likeness to be used!? I could go on, but it's much more fun to watch the madness unfold for yourself!

I second this request. Just finished watching it on Comet; full of unintentional laughs. What's really amazing is that this film came out *after* "Airplane II," which featured the same doomed "space airliner" concept, albeit as a wacky comedy!
