As far as it being 'self-aware' - well, in some ways it is...and in some ways it isn't. You have to remember that this is James Ngyuen - this isn't someone clever making this. Plus, as someone already pointed out, Rifftrax riffed 3 Sharknado movies - like those weren't self-aware 'let's make a bad movie on purpose' movies??

And even Mr. Ngyen's efforts at being 'self-aware' fail miserably. His honest incompetence still shines through.

I watched it and the acting sucks ballz as usual in his movies. Riffing it myself wasn't as good:)

I don't understand how a budget for a sequel is doubled from the original and yet the special effects get WORSE! This films NEEDS to be riffed and destroyed by MKB!

The best thing about Birdemic 2 is that director James Nguyen didn't realize he couldn't do endless driving scenes in LA. Too much traffic. So he substituted endless walking scenes, not realizing no one walks in LA.

If they did Sharknado 2, there is no reason they shouldn't do this!

I haven't seen it, but generally, I think self-aware sequels to movies that owe their fame to riffing should be ineligible.

Actually, from what I've seen of the movie, it's only somewhat self aware, and that's only because of the producer, the director is still the same, wants to make a seriously movie.

No, no, this Birdemic is self aware. It knows it sucks and is playing off the first. You can't riff a movie like that. You riff movies that honestly think they're good but suck.

I'm surprised they still haven't gotten to this, their Riff on the first movie if one of their best.
