It's Alive
NOT THE KILLER BABY MOVIE!!
The 1969 made for TV Larry Buchanan classic starring Billy Thurman as a psycho hillbilly with a pet monster which is actually also Billy Thurman in a wetsuit and cheap monster mask.
Tommy Kirk shows up gets locked in the cave and falls in love.
20+ minutes of the 80 minute running time is a non synch sound flashback.
Thurman's performance would have earned him an oscar if this was not a TV movie and unbelievale Tour De Force.
Public Doman = Instant VOD Gold!!!!

This is one I’ve been waiting for…Tommy Kirk…truly goofy monster…and a seemingly interminable scene in the middle of the movie with zero dialogue

Agreed! Any of Larry Buchanan's 8 infamous "Azelea Pictures" films released thru AIP's TV division are platinum fodder for riffing. And the fact that they're PD is a bonus. (MST3k did The Eye Creatures long ago.) IT'S ALIVE! is my fave of the bunch. Tommy Kirk is wonderfully awful, Billy Thurman gives an Oscar-worthy over the top performance, plus it stars a guy named Corveth Ousterhouse. How can you go wrong? Please also consider tackling the more widely known of these Azalea flicks... Mars Needs Women. Thank you.
