Godzilla 1985 (The Return of Godzilla)
Thirty years after the original monster's rampage, a new Godzilla emerges and attacks Japan.
The american version one might be a little difficult to come by, but I think it would be so worth it!

If I remember right, this is almost a scene by scene remake of the original so if there's trouble getting that one maybe this would be easier to get? Either way YES YES YES to riffing Godzilla!

Yeah, the rights issues on this one must be interesting. As a 'Zilla fan, I am SO happy to finally be able to see the original Japanese version. But as a "riff" fan, does this mean the US Raymond Burr version is easier (cheaper) or harder for Rifftrax to obtain? Lord knows whomever owns the rights to Godzilla 1985 hasn't done diddley with it!

Believe it or not, "The Return of Godzilla" (both the original Japanese version and the international English-dubbed version) will be coming out on Blu-ray and DVD this September courtesy of Kraken Releasing. Unfortunately, Kraken was unable to secure the rights to the Raymond Burr version ("Godzilla 1985"). Perhaps there can be an official RiffTrax commentary for the international English dub.

I still have the original VHS version of the American cut with Raymond Burr. My favorite Godzilla movie after the 1954/6 classic.

It's got my vote. I have the original subtitled version, but I could see the American one again if it was done by the guys. :)

I could see them having fun with it.
To give you an idea of how obscure this is, I bought it on VHS! I think it is now the ONLY Version not on DVD/Blu-Ray at this point still.
