A French/Spanish film where one character says, “This road’s right on the edge of cannibal country and they’d love to put you in the soup!” I mean she talks about it like it’s a gated community or something.

And many scenes not involving terror, like kids playing, cinematic shots through balustrades and hair care. And then there’s the paper doll/cat scene! Classic! So many, many random scenes.

Speaking of scenes. Much of this movie looks set in the Mohave desert or local forest. No jungles.

It does have kid kidnapping, but the kid isn’t particularly upset at any time.

The cannibals are an interesting bunch, lots of sideburns, sad wigs, and wacked face paint. It’s like a bunch of frat guys decided to play cannibals.

It does have some gross bits since they use a dead real animal, pretending to be a person, to butcher. It’s a classic gore technique in these films.
