I believe MST3k and Rifftrax (and others) could be on the verge of creating a sort of "riffing industry" with the help of the new blockchain and NFT technology. I think there is great potential not just to create brilliant satirical comedy, but also to offer collectible merchandise of the literal future.
As you may or may not know, what makes an NFT special is, everybody's collectible NFT is unique, and each one will have it's own value. You will never have to worry about the dog chewing up your ultra-valuable Joe Don Baker NFT, or that it might be counterfeit Joe Don Baker merchendise.
In the Rifftrax universe (or more accurately "metaverse"), you might see NFT's for auction such as a "Moosebaby set" or a seasonal "Ice Cream Bunny collectible". I personally would want a "What is Nothing?" NFT, because that's the silliest thing I can thing of, but Rifftrax can create an entire world based on their legendary riffing. I think the minds at Rifftrax could come up with some genuinely revolutionary stuff.
I encourage Rifftrax fans to toss around the phrase "Rifftrax NFT's", and research NFT's and how they work. I think they will represent a whole new side of the professional creative process that will include anyone who wants to participate.
As far as my own personal interests, I'm mostly just a very dedicated long-time fan, who very seriously believes the "riffing" style of humor will have significant cultural relevance. But I also still get excited about great new merch!
