Avia Vampire Hunter
What do i even say about this 2005 indie "horror thriller" film but i give it a try as someone who was fooled into watched it by a DVD cover that showed promise, ok 6 things about this film,
(1) the first 3 to 5 minutes of the film is just trailers for Avia Vampire Hunter and then get the intro that goes on for almost minute.
(2) the sound balance of... everything is so off, i swear they hired 80 year old stroke victim as there sound editor and even that might be to much of a complement and on a side note, they stole music from the London Philharmonic Orchestra, made it sound bad and even credit them to hide the fact its stolen.
(3) it may look like student project but its not, the film just vary ugly to look at and makes birdemic look professionally made, at the very least, bird had more filming locations and better props (yes, the coat hangers are better props then the bladed weapons in this movie).
(4) speaking of birdemic, the acting is on-par if not worse in this, Allison Valentino (Avia) performance is somewhere between a wood plank and incoherent mumbling, Rodney Jackson who plays her love interest Raymond, seem to be from a 70s blacksploitation movie and the rest of the cast, well some are just bad and others like Antonio Tomahawk, are just chewing the scenery.
(5) it has one of the kisses of death, Leon Hunter not only directed it but also written, produced, cinematographed, the chief editor and used his own production company, Hunter Productions, it almost never a good sign when most of work was by one person.
(6) the film feels like it Leon had two different scrips that he decided to stitch together to make this 83 minute film and thanks to this decision, there's a lot of WTF moments like:
The worst sex scene ever where there both fully clothed under a UV light with miss Valentino looking vary uncomfortable,
The montages and 98% of fight scenes that happen and accomplish nothing,
How the plot moves forwards even though the audience has no clue how that's happening and if did say how, you didn't hear it because the ambient music is to loud.
the movie has a 2.2 on IMDB based on 51 reviews and for a good reason, the movie almost unwatchable without friends who can riff it with you, its baffling that the film was not only released on DVD (possibly in local theatre's as well) in 2005 but was reissued on DVD by Echo Bridge in 2014, the movie is list of how not to make film, from the acting to special effects so bad, they not only use day for night but also use the technique of "sword under the arm pit stabbing effect", this is getting a bit long, so i'm going to end with this, its the type movie that RiffTrax is known for, bad ,obscure and ripe for a good riff:
