Sign in vs. Creating an Account

When you launch the Roku app, you'll be given two options: Sign in or Create Account

Which do you select? Here's how to decide:

Are you an existing customer? Choose Sign In.

(You can subscribe to Friends later!)

With our Roku app, an account at is required to watch videos. If you already have an account, or are a Friends subscriber from a previous app version, choose Sign In and enter your existing credentials.

If you have issues signing in (for instance, if you use Facebook Login to access the website, and don't know your password) choose the Forgot Password option to start the password reset process.

Then, if you want to Subscribe, you can do so right through the Roku app. Click through any available Friends video to access the subscription screen.

You will also have access to your Library of VODs through the My Library screen.

If you do NOT have a RiffTrax account or a Friends subscription, choose Create Account.

For NEW Friends subscribers, or if you do NOT already have an account on, choose the Create Account option; doing so will not subscribe you to the Friends service, but will create an account for you through the RiffTrax website. The app will fill in your email address from your Roku account, and ask you to create a RiffTrax account:

An account on RiffTrax is required in order to maintain a subscription. So for new subscribers, we recommend using your Roku account email address for your account, to make the process more smooth.

You'll be able to sign into the website using these same credentials in order to make purchases through the site later - and those will automatically appear in all "Library" screens of our TV apps.

If you receive an error message at this step, it could be that you already have an account with RiffTrax. Go back to the main screen and choose Sign In instead (or "Forgot Password" if you don't remember your credentials.
