  1. Corn's A Poppin'

This is a movie that's going to be hard to sum up because it's so... perfect for riffing.

It's a semi-musical film (about an hour long) about a popcorn magnate who needs to boost sales of his product, so he produces a TV musical variety show to promote it. What kind of music? Country music, of course! However, the PR guy is secretly working for a rival popcorn company, so it's up to the TV show's host and his whiny little sister to save the day. All this...and much more...written by Robert Altman.

    I have a few links to help…

    1) Lots of vintage folk acts including one with Joan Rivers.

    2) A dream sequence with a guy in a dog costume.

    3) A supporting role by an espresso machine.

  3. Straight Up (1988)

An anti-drug three part series staring Louis Gossett, Jr. and Chad Allen. You don't know the meaning of pain until you listen to the characters Booze and Pot sing the classic duet, "Gimme That Headband!"

  5. Zotz

Does anybody even remember Tom Poston? Zotz is about a milquetoasty character (Tom Poston) who discovers an ancient Assyrian coin that responds to the commands of whoever possesses it. It was actually a fairly professional production, but the concept of "corny" was apparently a selling point.

  7. The Pit and the Pendulum (1961)

I would argue that this might be Roger Corman's finest turn as a director, but the scenery does not go unchewed.

  8. Nerve

Nerve is a social media reality TV thriller where teenagers compete for watchers, only to find themselves as prisoners of the game. Unfortunately, the viewers watching the movie at home probably also felt like prisoners. It is filled with absurd moments that are ripe for RIFFs.

  9. Flatland: The Movie

It's based on the book and includes Joe Estevez.

"Flatland: The Movie is an exciting half-hour animated film based on Edwin Abbott's classic novel. Flatland is an entirely two-dimensional world where different shapes live, work, and play--all under the rule of the evil Circles who are determined to keep the third dimension a secret, at any cost. The story follows Arthur Square (Martin Sheen) and his curious granddaughter Hex (Kristen Bell). When the mysterious visitor Spherius (Michael York) arrives from Spaceland, Arthur and Hex face grave danger as they begin to come to terms with the truth of the third…

  12. "RiffTrax, please riff "The Novice"

It's a strange little short, very little dialog, so you can cram plenty of riffs in without being interrupted. It also has an overdubbed cameo by A.J. Foyt.

  14. Mansquito

That's right, you heard me. This movie really exists.

It's another ScyFy movie that came out in 2005. So you know it's trash. Beautiful, riffable trash.

  18. Bloodwood Cannibals

Just watch a few minutes and the riffs will be FALLING out of your funnybone automatically. All you have to do is record them. The poor actors had very little to work with from the writers, and the low (non-existant?) budget meant no retakes for bad acting, of which there was plenty. Just! WATCH! Really great riff fodder.

  19. Ultraman (1960's series)

The 1960's dubbed Japanese series with the Science Patrol (Hayata, Fuji, etc.) Each episode was like 30 minutes. The orange outfits with the matching ties are reason enough to riff on it.

  20. Fist of the North Star

Fist of the North Star is a 1986 anime film dubbed for American audiences, and as dubbing anime into English was relatively new (and the film itself is comically absurd & Verhoeven-esque in its violence) the "so bad it's good" vibe is STRONG with this one. If ever an anime deserved to be riffed, this one is it.
