2. Manticore

   Manticore is a Sci-Fi original movie that aired on the Sci-Fi Channel on November 26, 2005. It was directed by Tripp Reed and featured Heather Donahue, Chase Masterson and Robert Beltran. It is about a squad of United States Army soldiers in Iraq that must fight against a resurrected, nearly unstoppable manticore awoken from its slumber by an Iraqi insurgent leader. (Wikipedia.com)

   • Seems to have been shot entirely in one greenscreened room

   • The acting is even more plastic than the faces and boobs

4. The Adventures of Ford Fairlane

   Take a 1990's comedian known for his New Jersey accent and dirty limericks and give him a movie to showcase those talents. Andrew 'Dice' Clay stars in this action movie where he gets to play a street-wise private detective with more snappy one liners than Rodney Dangerfield and Don Rickles.
   And he has a gun that pops out of his sleeve to surprise the bad guys. That really happens.
   Enjoy hair, jackets, and jokes on par with Cool as Ice in this classic, riffable tour de force.

7. Gas-s-s-s (1970)

   Otherwise known as 'Gas! -Or- It Became Necessary to Destroy the World in Order to Save It.' This was once another fun-filled apocalyptic film of the Seventies... but instead of nuclear war, overpopulation, or apes seizing control of the world, the source of it this time is a biological chemical agent (aka Gas), which was accidentally released in the world. Anyone over 25 ends up getting killed (imagine if the guy's at Logan's Run did this instead of those damn crystals in the hand, would've eliminated a lot of this 'runner' nonsense, hmm?), and as a result a bunch of young people wind up ruling the world.

   Well, more or less, and what ends up in a wild ride between two main characters. Basically they wind up on a journey, meeting bizarre people along the way. Cindy Williams (aka Shirley Feeney) and Ben Vereen also guest star. One hilarious moment is a town which is ruled by a football team (no, really).

   So why is this movie a gas for RiffTrax to riff may you inquire, as you may:

   (1) The infinite music score when the main characters go on their road trip, apparently this film has a song for practically everything.

   (2) The funniest moment come with Cindy Williams as a pregnant woman running a music store as well as her boyfriend Ben Vereen who plays, Carlos, who is a bit of a military enthusiast.

   (3) The plethora of characters these guys encounter along the way as they travel across the country to find out what they'll find in this new mixed up world. Me, hoping for those Zombies out in Texas where apparently Night of the Living Dead took place. Seriously this is one post-apocalyptic film which makes enough sense as Fun in Balloonland.

   For instance, one gunfight scene has everyone 'shooting' their weapons not with bullets, but with people shouting out classic authors, actors and writers at one another. Which end up with our hero yelling out 'John Wayne' to destroy some bandits.

   Overall, this is one American International (not sure how that works) flick RiffTrax should not overlook, because it really is a Gas-s-s-s.

    The movie itself is utterly hilarious and relatively short. This actually was shown at the Cannes Film Festival! Acting is horribly stiff, the entire 1980s feel gives it the proper level of "cheese", and there is just SO much to riff on!

13. The Metric System (PBS TV Series 1978)

    What do the aci film shorts and this series have in common? They were both: (1) Insanely produced and; (2) aired on PBS' GRETA (Gulf Regional Education Television Affiliates) time during the school years (mainly used by home schoolers at time, or what your parents made you watch instead of 'Gilligan's Island' when you were sick).

    Anyway onto this series.. as the RiffTrax Crew knows from their plethora of aci shorts, producers had a bizarre way of 'education' the youth of the 70s. If it wasn't about making crafts out of refuse, it was counting turkeys in a pen, or creating unholy abominations and calling them 'puppets.' but I digress...

    About the time of the mid to late-Seventies/Eighties, the world was going 'Metric Crazy' and was being 'converted' faster than the ghouls in 'Night of the Living Dead.' Naturally our country held out and fought the system, but during this battle, the US did attempt to force us to learn about this new form of measurement in the most insane way possible.

    Before Square One TV, you had 'The Metric System.' Yes, that was the name of the show.. which basically was about a fictional television network that would show programs which were based on a metric/measuring theme. Some were direct parodies of other PBS shows, such as 'Centimeter Street,' with Big Bug (a giant version of the classic Cootie Bug Game character), whereas others were original send offs.

    One memorable moment was 'Metric Man,' where they would use a weird, live head action with puppetry, before Marc Weiner popularized it with his stand up and Weinerville show. The hilarious thing was MM's archnemesis was (get this) an inchworm. Yes, you heard me right, an inchworm, who mainly got pissed off at Metric Man for using him to compare the difference between inches and centimeters in one episode.

    Regrettably, I've attempted to locate something of this series for you so you can grasp the concept. To give you a frame of reference, imagine if the show was still running today: they would probably make a spoof on MST3K, probably calling it 'Metric Science Theater 10 K (because, you know, of the metric thing)' and have a Joel/Mike and the 'bots send off, watching cheesy metric-based films and making measurement comments, with the intermissions being based on metric-themed stuff, while the mads would probably get mad by using 'outdated' measuring methods. Though the show itself did educate in some way, it was hilarious for the fact this came off more like something along the lines of 'The Carol Burnett Show,' than an educational program. If you're wanting to accept this challenge of locating this classic, here's why I believe at least one of the episodes should be riffed:

    (1) The pretense of being a network: Overlooking the corny title, the show does begin and end as if you had come across an actual network program. The sketches are devised as television shows. Centimeter Street happens to be one of the more hilarious parodies for the fact Henson and CTW did allow the producers to use the muppets of Ernie and Bert (but here are called, Bernie and Ert).

    (2) Metric Man: Essentially the fact when you see how this is executed you can probably hear Mike go, "Oh, what new fresh Hell is this?" And Kevin go, "Wow, an inchworm for a villain? Who'd ever think of something like that?" Whereas Bill would comment on how the problems of the MM citizen deal more with measuring than real disasters.

    (3) Just for the fact the whole concept was more disturbing than anything 'Fun in Balloonland,' or aci films could devise.

    Sorry I couldn't locate anything on this classic for you, but if anyone out there can, I'd appreciate it if you submit it here and help see if this could get Riffed... even if it's just for one episode...

    Doolyville is a small town of less than 1000 population situated on the edge of the great national forests in Oregon/BC. Much mysterious things happen here and no one has answers. The Park Rangers newborn goes missing as do many other individuals and the Canadian Crime Unit is called to investigate. What happens?...

    A 2013 independent Canadian film, I recently watched with a friend who worked on the film. This movie is hilariously bad beginning to end, extremely quotable and has the right levels of cheesy editing, acting and story. This movie isn't readily available online, but we could easily get a copy if there is any interest.
